GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

Ownership and Trademarks:  Trek & Trail is owned and operated by KR Kayaking LLC, a Wisconsin registered LLC.  Any use of Trek & Trail registered trademarks is strictly prohibited without the express written permission of KR Kayaking LLC.

Permitting Agencies: Trek & Trail is proud to have a Commercial Use Authorization from the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.  As such, we take your safety and adherence to National Park regulations seriously.  In addition, Trek & Trail also obtains the necessary permits to conduct commercial operations at public access launch points from local town, city, and Tribal governments as required.  Our ability to operate at these locations in the future is based on good behavior and adherence to federal, state, and local rules.  Failure of our customers to follow rules of the property-owners that we have permits with, or to follow the instructions of the guides, may result in disqualifying any participate from continuing on the trip.  Trek & Trail also acknowledges that the area that we operate in in the ancestral home of the Anishinaabe people.  We encourage our customers to learn about and respect local tribal traditions and have respect for the land and lake.

Deposits: All prices are in US dollars.  A 50 percent deposit of total listed price is required to secure reservations.  The balance for the reservation is due in full 45 days prior to trip departure.  We reserve the right to cancel the trip, or add 5 percent of trip price to balance, if full payment is not made on time.  In such cases, the deposit is not refundable.  All discounts are rescinded on overdue invoices.

Travel Protection Insurance: Trek & Trail recommends protecting yourself through the purchase of a short-term traveler’s insurance policy to cover trip cancellations, emergency evacuation, or special medial needs.  Unexpected events can happen, and a travel protection plan may help reimburse the cost of your pre-paid, non-refundable in the event you are prevented from taking your trip for a covered reason.  Know that in the event of illness or injury, evacuation may be prolonged and expensive.  Baggage and cameras are carried entirely at the owner’s risk, and we accept no responsibility for lost or damaged personal property.

Cancellations: Cancellations made at least 30 days prior to departure will receive a refund of payment minus 15 percent of total trip cost.  Cancellations made less than 30 days but more than 10 days prior to departure will receive no refund, but 50 percent of the payment may be credited toward a future trip or rental within 1 year.  Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to departure or no show will receive no refund and no credit.  Trips are sold as a package, and credits are not given for services not used.

Undersubscription:  Insufficient registration on a particular trip or expeditions may require that we cancel or reschedule your itinerary.  If you prefer, we will refund the deposit and payments you have made to us without any service or cancellation charge.  In no event shall our liability exceed the obligation to refund the amount you paid to us.

Alternate Routes and Itineraries: Routes and itineraries may be altered in response to environmental conditions or group abilities.

Medical Considerations: More strenuous trips require higher levels of physical fitness.  People who are obese, pregnant, have heart trouble or other medical conditions should have their physician’s approval before joining a Trek & Trail.  People with disabilities are welcome, pending an advance discussion of all special requirements.  The guide has the right to disqualify a guest at any time during the trip, or at the pre-trip meeting, if she or he feels the guest is physically or mentally incapable of participation or if the guest continuing on the trip will jeopardize the safety of the individual involved or the group.  Refunds are not available under such circumstances.

Trip Leader Authority: On any Trek & Trail trip the lead guide has full authority to disqualify any member of the trip should the guide feel the participant is unable to mentally or physically continue, or should the participant’s further continuation as a group member jeopardize the group’s or his/her own safety.

Guide Requests:  Trek & Trail is pleased we can sometimes bring clients together with their favorite guides. However, guide requests are often not possible and cannot be guaranteed for a variety of reasons. We will take all reasonable action to schedule you with the guide you have requested, but in the end, please understand that accommodating your request may not be feasible.

Tipping:  Our guides work hard to make your adventure with us as enjoyable as possible.  Along with any feedback they appreciate any well-earned gratuities. (20% of total trip cost is typical for any customer service position).

Protecting Your Personal and Financial Information:

We use many safeguards that include both technical and physical measures to protect your information. For online transactions, we contract with PCI Compliant third parties.  Due to the nature of our services, it is necessary to collect and store a certain amount of personal and financial information. By submitting your information to us, you consent to the storage of this information for a period of time deemed appropriate by us.
